How do you deal with trees on forest maps?

Image from Reddit VTT sub asking how to deal with these tree shadows.

This is one of the issues we set out to solve with Alviss Quest. Below you can see a demo from our Beta where the shadows are cast in a way that the DM never has to draw them or set them up. Trees are actual geometry, so they cast real shadows and block sight automatically; no walls to place, no tiles to swap.

Players can see if they are visible, lightly obscured, or heavily obscured very easily. The world and shadows change, so being a rouge feels more rouge-like. Setting an ambush in the cover of bushes makes sense.

The day changes to night and the shadows offer more protection from being detected. Alviss Quest
